When did you start practicing law as a licensed attorney?
I was a summer intern with Montgomery Purdue in 2008 and started as a practing attorney in 2009. I graduated law school just as the impacts of the Great Recession were really taking hold. I have seen some ups and downs - in the real estate market and in the economy more generally.
What do you consider your most significant career accomplishment to date and why?
I helped a long time client take an assignment of a purchase and sale agreement. We were under an extreme time crunch, and with the buyer, seller, client, and other interested parties, there were a lot of moving parts. We were able to guide the client through a complicated transaction in a short amount of time. The result was the preservation of affordable housing for dozens of families who need it.
What is something you'd be happy doing every single day for the rest of your career?
What I love about this job is that every day is a little different than the last. It's unnerving at first, but it's what keeps me doing this.
When was the last time you said "no" to a client?
I rarely have to give a client a hard "no." My job is to help clients meet their objectives. That said, sometimes the right solution isn't the one that the client prefers at the outset. Sometimes that means helping a client to rethink the situation.
