Biography
Ms. Reid has been practicing law for more than ten years and her clients include business owners (including artists, authors, bankers, computer consultants, commercial real estate investors, caterers, mobile home park owners, composite materials manufacturers, propane distributors, maritime and marine-related business owners, and owners of construction companies and other contracting companies), business executives, physicians, dentists, attorneys and other professional persons, professional athletes, software and telecommunication engineers, and for-profit businesses and non-profit organizations.
Ms. Reid's practice includes:
- Advising clients on the tax and non-tax aspects of estate planning, such as federal gift, estate, and generation-skipping transfer tax matters, Washington state estate tax matters, and dealing with out-of-state property, multigenerational planning, business succession planning or other unique aspects;
- Preparing premarital and postmarital agreements, cohabitation agreements, domestic partnership agreements and other agreements regarding the status of property;
- Non-charitable and charitable gifts, including the negotiation of substantial endowment or naming gifts to charitable organizations;
- Charitable planning, including the creation of private foundations or supporting organizations, charitable remainder or lead trusts and providing ongoing representation in operational and governance matters;
- Forming non-profit public charitable organizations and providing representation with respect to operational and governance matters;
- Forming for-profit business entities and providing advice on operational, governance and succession issues and representation in transactions;
- Asset preservation planning; and
- Representing fiduciaries or beneficiaries in estate or trust administration matters or disputes, including probate or non-probate administration and trust interpretation or reformation matters.

Community & Professional Associations
She is a member of the Estate Planning Council of Seattle, Washington Women in Tax, the National Committee on Planned Giving, the Washington Planned Giving Council, the Taxation Section of the American Bar Association, the King County Bar Association, and the Taxation Section and Real Property, Probate and Trust Sections of Washington State Bar Association. Ms. Reid is also on the Board of Directors of Pilchuck Glass School and the Advisory Board of Directors of the Pacific Northwest Ballet, and she actively supports several other local and regional charitable and educational organizations, such as Overlake Service League, Lopez Community Land Trust, Rise N'Shine, United Way, Ronald McDonald House Charities, YWCA, Washington Women in Need, and Whitman College. Ms. Reid is a former Director of Washington Women Lawyers and was a founding Director of the Washington Women Lawyers Foundation. Ms. Reid is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Washington.
