Biography
Ryan Montgomery is the fourth generation of the Montgomery family to practice law at MPBA. Mr. Montgomery's practice focuses on estate and tax planning, estate and trust administration, business and real estate transactions, and includes the following:
- Preparing estate planning instruments such as Wills, Revocable Living Trusts, Durable Powers of Attorney, and Health Care Directives;
- Preparing various forms of property agreements, including premarital and postmarital agreements;
- Advising clients on the tax aspects of business and personal estate planning, including income, estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax issues;
- Advising business clients on creating deferred compensation arrangements in compliance with Internal Revenue Code § 409A and related regulations;
- Handling probate or trust estate administrations, including dispute negotiation;
- Formation of business entities;
- Representation in business transactions, such as asset sales and mergers;
- Drafting and analyzing leases, purchase and sale agreements, tenancy-in-common agreements and other real estate transactional documents.
Ryan is a member of the Estate Planning Council of Seattle, and was selected as a 2010 and 2011 “Rising Star” attorney by Washington Law & Politics magazine.
